A rapper faked his own death and even invited his own parents to the funeral.
Wee Meng Chee – better known by his stage name Namewee – uploaded a black and white photo on social media.
The image had the title: “1983-2024.”

The 40-year-old rapper’s Wikipedia page was also changed to say he passed away on 29 March.
At around 5 am yesterday (1 Apr), an ‘obituary’ was posted on Facebook and Instagram for his 2.8 million and 787,000 followers respectively.
The post referred to the hip hop star as ‘ghosician’, the title of his 2021 album.
The obituary said a ‘wake’ would be held between 2 pm and 10 pm yesterday (1 Apr)
A ‘farewell ceremony’ was announced for 8 pm to 10 pm the same day.
The venue was announced as the Nirvana Center Kuala Lumpur in the Malaysian capital.
The obituary said all visitors should wear “all-white attire” and not bring “condolence wreaths, flower stands, money, obituaries, and memorial advertisements”.
It also stated that media coverage would not be allowed.
Later the same day, another photo was posted on Namewee’s social media accounts of his coffin decorated with flowers along with images of his career highlights.
A photo also circulated of mourners mingling around his open casket.
Fans flocked to his posts to pay tribute to the ‘deceased’ music star.
However, it later became clear that it was all part of an April Fool’s marketing stunt, as reported by Need to Know.
He said on Facebook: “On this day, it was profound for me to see who really cared about me.
“I feel lucky to be able to see my own funeral and experience things no one else can.
“The ultimate realisation in life is that, no matter how great you do, you will eventually die.
“We don’t have to please anyone, just be brave to do the right thing.”
“Last year, many things happened to me, I faced pressure from all sides, health concerns, and I was many times in and out of hospital.
“Plus many friends around me, my pet of 13 years, and many celebrities have left us.
“This made me realise the importance of ‘life planning’, so I wrote a song, filmed a video, organised a farewell ceremony, and planned to make it a documentary, with the aim of sharing my life plan with the public.”
He added: “Next, we will premiere ‘A Farewell Documentary’ and my latest music video ‘When I’m Gone’ on 4 April.”
