A plus size model has hit back at trolls who slammed her for undergoing gastric bypass surgery.
Thais Carla defended her decision to have the procedure, saying that her two children made her want a “different life”.
The 33-year-old was known for supporting body diversity and positivity on her social media platforms.
She has more than 3.5m followers.

But her choice to undergo surgery caused shockwaves in her online community, with many questioning why she had the operation if she was already happy with her body.
Joyce said: “She defended obesity at all costs lol she made a lot of people believe in her, now she’s done bariatric, ha.”
Michelle said: “And went to do bariatric? I don’t get it.”

“Hypocrisy. Now she’s done bariatric and she’s going to make even more profit from those of you who supported her attitude,” added Daniel.
Claudio said: “Got bariatric, why then?”
“But she did the bariatric she said she was happy with her body,” Edvania added.

‘Bariatric’ refers to the treatment of obesity and related conditions, including surgical interventions.
It encompasses various approaches, including weight loss surgery, also called bariatric surgery.
Thais had already dropped 66lbs naturally after she began her weight loss journey last November.

She underwent gastric bypass surgery on 28 April.
Her husband, Israel Reis, confirmed to local press that she is recovering well.
And Thais has assured her followers that her transformation came from a place of personal will.
In an interview with Marie Claire magazine she said that her children, Maria Clara, aged seven, and Eva, four, played a part in her choice.

She said: “I have a family that accepts me as I am.
“I didn’t need to change, but I wanted to.
“I wanted to have a different life, play with my daughters, and go back to dancing.”
Thais also revealed that she had changed her relationship with food.

She said she now makes healthier choices in the hopes of having a better quality of life.
The Brazilian social media star underwent surgery at the Aliança Hospital, in Salvador, Brazil.
While her decision prompted criticism from some of her followers, others showed their support.

Bella said: “Congratulations Thais for taking care of yourself. Your kids and the ones who love you say thank you.”
Jeff added: “Congratulations Thais don’t care about mean comments you will win.”
“I’ll love to accompany you through this weight loss process,” Eloise added.

Jeff said: “Guys what bad comments. It’s never too late to want to take care of yourself.”
“Congratulations Thais. May you have a good recovery from surgery and may your days ahead be beautiful experiences,” Karen added.
