A vile thug tried to strangle his Staffordshire bull terrier and left another dog with a fractured skull.
Obasi Lennox Mader was convicted of four counts of animal cruelty and handed a suspended prison sentence.
The 34-year-old was arrested after horrified members of the public reported seeing two dogs – Sage and Mr Green – being beaten.

When officers from the RSPCA and police arrived at his home, both terrified dogs were found cowering at the back of the hallway.
Sage had suffered a catalogue of horrific injuries – including a broken metacarpal bone, spinal damage, broken teeth, a wound to her upper lip, and severe swelling to her head, neck and eyes.

Vets said her injuries were consistent with strangulation and blunt force trauma, and that she was likely to have been kicked, hit with a blunt object or even thrown from a height.
Mr Green was also found with a fractured skull and spinal injuries, thought to be caused by repeated blows.
Tragically, Sage had to be put to sleep due to the extent of her injuries.
But Mr Green has since been rehomed with a loving family, as reported by Need to Know.

The vet who examined Sage said: “I estimate that Sage would have suffered at a minimum for seven days due to the metacarpal fracture and spinal injuries and for at least three days from the strangulation injury and broken teeth.”
On 28 October, Mader, from Islington, North London, was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete 10 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days.
He was also banned from keeping animals for five years, with no right to appeal for three.
