A man, walking around with what looked like two heads for 15 years, has had his huge tumour removed.

The 39-year-old patient went to hospital after deciding he couldn’t live with its side effects any longer.

The growth was causing him neck pain, sleeplessness, anxiety, and depression.

It had also caused his hands to go numb and was affecting his ability to walk.

Stunned medics found the mass measured about 20cm by 15cm by 15cm.

The man told them it first appeared as a small lump when he was a young man, aged 24.

Over the years, it grew and grew in size, until it ended up nearly the same size as his head.

The doctors in Jodhpur, India, ruled that the growth was a mesenchymal tumour.

It was so large that it had begun to destroy the outer table of his skull and was now reaching the inner table.

The pressure of the mass had also destroyed up to 4cm of his occipital bone.

It presented a challenge for the surgeons because of the nearby blood vessels and the brain.

One wrong move with the scalpel could have proved fatal.

But, the surgical team led by Dr Dinesh Dutt Sharma successfully removed the tumour in a complex, gruelling op.

Snaps show how the patient looked good as new after the back of his head was stitched up.

Incredibly, he’s made a full recovery.
