Firefighters have issued a warning after they rescued a dog from QUICKSAND.

The adorable Collie was stuck in the sand for over an hour.

According to Cumbria Fire and Rescue service, the dog’s owner also became trapped in the quicksand.

But they were only partly submerged and were able to free themselves from the terrifying situation, as reported by Need To Know.

The Collie appeared to be in distress as it began sinking in the sand in Grange, Cumbria, on Thursday (2 May)

The fire service teamed up with Ulverston Blue Light Hub and Kendal Fire Station to come up with a plan to free the pooch.

They used specialist equipment, including air paths – which are inflatable walkways – to rescue the dog.

The team also issued a warning to remind beach-goers of the dangers of walking along the coastline.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Our crews from @‌UlverstonBLH, @GrangeFireStation and @‌Fire_Kendal have successfully rescued a dog that had become stuck in quicksand at Grange this afternoon (1pm).

”We were joined in the multi-agency rescue by @‌HMCoastguard and Bay Search and Rescue.”

They added: “This incident acts as a reminder of the dangers that can exist in our coastal areas.

”Quicksand is not always obvious, but is extremely dangerous, and we remind those who enjoy our coast to do so with caution.”
