The storm battered the Bulgarian city of Shumen, north east of the capital Sofia, and surrounding northern regions on Wednesday (12 Jun).

At least one cobbled street in Shumen was smashed to pieces by the large hailstones.

Rainwater displaced the smashed stones across nearby roads.

The storm also affected the northern towns and cities of Veliko Tarnovo, Pravets, Pleven, Lovech, Vratsa, and Gabrovo.
