He says that there was no evidence against him and is currently in search of justice.
Alfonso, 64, says it has been a horrendous ordeal.

But his time inside the North Prison of Mexico City was not what he expected.
Alfonso, who is from Mexico, was arrested on 10 August, last year, while travelling to a convention in Colombia with fans.
He only spent a matter of days in prison but in an interview with local media, said that many of his fellow inmates were fans of Shrek, as reported by Need To Know.
Alfonso, who also does the Spanish voiceover for Marty, the zebra in Madagascar, says he found that prisoners would show up in his cell and ask him to put on his Shrek voice.

Some inmates even asked Alfonso if he would sign letters which were being sent to family members.
Alfonso has also spoken out on his experience to YouTuber Jeffar Vlogs.
“Prisoners began to show up in my cell saying, ‘Where is Shrek? Let’s see, talk to us like Shrek’,” he said.
“[They started] to take me to drawings and tell me, ‘Hey, will you sign this for my family?’.
“I would say, ‘Yes, yes, yes, of course’.
“Then the same prisoners began to take care of me.

“They would hug me, we became friends, it was an experience.
“I went in thinking they are going to kill me, they are going to break me to pieces, and they themselves are the ones who took care of me.
“I found more help, more solidarity and more brotherhood in the prisoners than in people who are not in prison.”
The details of his arrest sparked a media frenzy.

He has claimed that he was a victim of extortion.
And after speaking out on his experience, he hopes to get his career back on track and continue voicing popular animated characters.
Mike Myers provided the voice of Shrek in the main, English version.
