A bungling food delivery rider caused chaos after ending up cycling along the hard shoulder of a busy motorway.
The bizarre incident unfolded on the A16, where stunned motorists spotted the cyclist riding along the emergency lane.
Traffic authorities later confirmed the situation on social media, warning drivers that disruption could last “for some time” as crews dealt with the unusual hazard.

A video of the incident has racked up over 165,000 views, as reported by Need To Know.
Footage showed the rider pedalling along the side of the road as cars and lorries sped past.
It remains unclear how they ended up on the motorway, where bicycles are strictly prohibited due to safety risks.
Officials moved to intervene, with traffic management teams working to remove the cyclist from the dangerous stretch.
Motorways are designed for fast-moving vehicles only, meaning vulnerable road users like cyclists face serious danger if they enter them.
The incident also caused delays for drivers, as authorities worked to resolve the situation safely.
Delivery riders are known to face increasing pressure to complete jobs quickly, with road safety experts warning the role carries significant risks.
The incident took place in the Netherlands on 26 March.
It is not known whether the cyclist will face any penalties following the incident.
“This time no pan bami out the window in Rotterdam, but a food delivery guy on the #A16, who instead of food is mainly delivering worried looks,” said Rijkswaterstaat Verkeersinformatie.
“If anyone’s in Rotterdam-Kralingen waiting on a Pad Thai, it might take a bit longer.”
