A singer and beauty queen has claimed she was surrounded by security guards and forced to sign a “final warning” at an airport after questioning airline staff over what she says were contradictory check-in rules.

Anna-Lisa Kumoji, a Miss Beautiful Inside Out World title holder, has accused ground staff of “abuse of power” during a dispute over boarding procedures she says began with a simple question about the airline’s own website.

The 36-year-old performer alleges she arrived at the airport within the time stated on its website for intercontinental flights, but was told check-in had already closed earlier than expected, as reported by Need To Know.

According to Kumoji, when she pointed out the discrepancy, staff were dismissive and failed to explain the difference between the published policy and what was being enforced at the airport.

She says she began filming the interaction on her phone to support a potential complaint, which she claims escalated the situation significantly.

“I was surrounded by security,” she alleged, saying multiple guards were called after staff claimed she was being disruptive.

Kumoji claims that instead of resolving the issue, attention shifted to her behaviour, with KLM staff at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana, allegedly portraying her as the problem rather than addressing her complaint.

She further alleges she was then presented with a document described as a “final warning”, which she says she was told she must sign to continue her journey.

“How could this be a final warning when I had never received a first warning?” she said.

She also claims she was instructed to stop filming and delete footage during the incident, adding she complied when asked.

Kumoji says an operations manager later told her: “Sign it or don’t fly.”

She alleges she ultimately signed the document with a written note stating she did not agree with its contents, adding: “I only asked questions.”

The singer also claims she had already been forced to purchase a replacement ticket before being allowed to proceed.

In additional comments, Kumoji said she felt she was being “gaslit” and unfairly portrayed as aggressive after raising concerns about the alleged inconsistency in check-in information.

She also claims that at least three to four other passengers were affected by the same check-in issue on the same day, with one man reportedly witnessing the escalation and later providing contact details in support of her account.

Kumoji says she has since filed complaints with both KLM and Swissport Ghana but claims she has not yet received a response or compensation.

However, she was also keen to stress that her criticism is not directed at airline flight crew, praising KLM cabin staff and a captain she says intervened during the situation.

She claimed the captain was “kind and understanding” and advised her to submit a formal complaint, while also reassuring her about the disputed document.

“He was the only one who seemed sane at that point,” Kumoji said.

KLM and Swissport Ghana have been approached for comment.
