A man has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a “game changing” hack for putting vinegar on food – and it’s perfect for a fish and chips dinner.
Jono Yates, 34, from Cheshire, came across the idea when it was shared in a meme but never actually saw anyone try it, so decided to give it a go himself.
In the post, Jono shares how the simple trick works.
Filming himself ready to tuck into a dinner of fish, chips and sausages from his local chip shop, he produces a spray bottle filled with vinegar.
He proceeds to spritz the meal with a generous helping of vinegar.
Jono says: “Next time you’re putting vinegar on your chips, stick it in a spray bottle and spray it all over.
“You get a nice, even application and none of it gets soggy. You’re welcome!”
He shared the clever trick on TikTok, where his post was viewed 4.8 million times and racked up 182,000 likes.
One user said: “Straight up game changer, who invented vinegar bottles anyways.” [sic]
“Omg this is THE hack of life,” another person commented. [sic]
Someone else added: “OMG! WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH.” [sic]
“What a great idea!” another person agreed.
While some viewers admitted that they actually like their chips covered in vinegar and soggy.
One person said: “The pool of vinegar is my after meal drink” [sic]
“The reason I add more vinegar is so some of the chips are soggy, can’t beat it!” agreed someone else.
“It’s great, I use it every time I go to the chippy which is about twice a week,” Jono, a consultant and owner of Scrans Media, told Jam Press.
“There’s nothing worse than soggy chips and everyone loves the trick!”
“TikTok is weird because I’ll spend hours slaving over a complex recipe and it’ll get no views but just spray some chips with vinegar and it’ll get seen by millions, madness.”
