An urban explorer got a peek behind the thin blue line when he went inside an abandoned former police headquarters – and claims to have discovered “evidence left behind”.
Daniel Sims, 33, known as Bearded Reality on YouTube and Instagram (@beardedreality), recently visited the former GMP Salford Division Headquarters, which closed in 2005.
After becoming fascinated by the number of police stations across the UK being closed down, he was curious to see what had become of the former station.
Video shows Daniel exploring the property, moving through cell blocks and shining his torch on row after row of evidence shelves.
As he goes deeper into the station he finds more old cell doors, as well as discarded syringes and a ouija board, left behind by visitors.
He also claims to have found traces of evidence left behind such as drinks cans and even an evidence sheet mentioning a “claw hammer” and “gloves”.
He continues to pan around to show what appears to be items with “blood” still on them. Daniel also spots numerous offices with paperwork and graffiti covering the walls.
“It was like something out of a horror film,” Daniel told NeedToKnow.online.
“Hearing the noises throughout the building and not knowing where you are going or going to end up.
“The police station is especially creepy and even more so at night, with loads of decayed corridors and no real natural light coming through.
“Inside the station, we found long abandoned corridors that had not been walked in many years.
“We found abandoned evidence rooms that had evidence and blood left behind. Cells with graffiti and offices which were filled with paperwork and items left behind.
“The building itself was extremely decayed, parts suffered from years of flooding and falling down. Overgrowth of plants had started to creep in.”
Daniel spent a number of hours exploring, but revealed the creepy location was enough to put him off a night in the cells.
Opened in 1957, by the Earl of Derby MC, the headquarters was initially intended to be the headquarters for Salford City Police and C.I.D Division.
Following a merger of forces with Greater Manchester, it continued to operate becoming GMP Salford Division HQ until it closed for good in 2005.
The building was then earmarked for demolition but the historic frontage meant it was left standing.
With plans to develop the site unclear, it has stood empty for over almost two decades with no signs of changing.
