Story from Jam Press (House On Stilts) Pictured: Outside the Mansion on stilts. Incredible mansion on 60-FOOT STILTS hits market for £13M – the views are breathtaking An incredible mansion held up by what appears to be stilts has hit the market for $16 million (£12.9 million). The towering property, in Los Angeles, California, boasts stunning luxe features including an entryway made of lava rock, original terrazzo flooring, a 55-foot wall of windows, and a large outdoor pool. But the real star of the show? The incredible 60-foot caissons propping the building up above the canyon. As well as making for an architecturally unique exterior, they also serve an important purpose – giving the home panoramic views of LA. The showstopping property, called Garcia House, was designed by renowned architect John Lautner, and it was built in 1962 – though has since undergone renovations. Inside, the house offers three bedrooms, three bathrooms, huge living spaces and, of course, plenty of windows to take in the views. Meanwhile heading outside, a descent down the hillside steps will bring you through the verdant garden, designed by landscape architect John Sharp, and to the swimming pool. The property is available with Aaron Kirman, Weston Littlefield, and Dalton Gomez of AKG, Christie’s International Real Estate. The listing reads: “The "Garcia House", an iconic masterpiece designed by the world-renowned architect, John Lautner. “The property boasts a number of timeless features including a lava rock entryway, original terrazzo flooring, signature parabolic roof, a 55-foot wall of windows, and 60-foot caissons elevating the structure above the canyon, showcasing breathtaking panoramic views of Los Angeles. “Capture your place in history and experience a home that truly transcends time.” ENDS
