Story from Jam Press (Renting Balenciaga) Pictured: Balenciaga’s City Clutch in green. Hard-up Brits renting out their pricey Balenciaga clothes amid cost of living crisis Hard-up Brits are renting out their pricey Balenciaga clothes amid the cost of living crisis. The pre-worn clobber can be borrowed for as little as three days. But they are still going for eye-watering prices despite the fact you have to give them back. Skint fashionistas can list their worn items on the clothing rental website and app 'By Rotation'. Items such as dresses, t-shirts, and trainers are among the 212 Balenciaga items currently available. Other bizarre items that you can borrow include handbags and even scarves. Fashion fans share images of their designer gear and list how much they originally paid for the item. One savvy seller is renting out a green Balenciaga City Clutch bag for £87. They claim that it RRPPs at £400. This means the seller could make their money back and a small profit by renting it out just five times. Another person is offering others, a Croc White Hourglass Mini Bag, which retails at £2,200, for £304. Renters can also borrow a pair of worn beige trainers that come in their original box from £69. The seller originally paid £825. There is also a black T-shirt bearing the trendy fashion brand’s name for £59 down from £535. A black dress was bought for £595, but the customer charges £58 for others to borrow it. Other unusual items include a Balenciaga branded wool scarf which can be rented for £49 and a pair of sunglasses for £40 a time. The website read: “By Rotation is determined to transform fashion consumption for good by creating a community of like-minded individuals to conveniently share, monetise, and consciously consume fashion.” Balenciaga faced a backlash last November after using bondage bears and kids in an ad campaign.
