A woman who made headlines after ‘marrying’ a ghost has revealed she is now swearing off men altogether and becoming a nun – after famously ‘divorcing’ the ghoul earlier this year.
Brocarde, a singer and songwriter from Oxfordshire, fell in love with Edwardo – the ghost of a Victorian soldier – in late 2021 after he appeared in her home.
But after a rocky marriage marred with cheating allegations and him often ‘ghosting’ her for days on end, Brocarde, 40, called it quits this summer, having an exorcism to rid herself of the spirit.
After trying to move on and being plagued by Edwardo ‘haunting’ and ‘stalking’ her using bizarre disguises, she has now decided to ditch love altogether and become a nun, taking a vow of celibacy.
The singer says the revelation came to her after she realised her troublesome ex didn’t seem able to pester her while she was in church.
“I am at my wits end,” Brocarde told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
“Edwardo blew up the TV when he saw our wedding on Gogglebox.
“He won’t go anywhere near churches or priests so I’m hoping he’s scared of nuns also.
“He hated the thought of me dating real men so perhaps he will be content and finally rest in peace if I turn to god and a life of abstinence.
“At least he won’t feel threatened by other men, as he hates me dating.
“If it gets rid of Edwardo then it will be a blessing in disguise.
“I don’t know how our cope with no sex, I’m a very passionate person.
“I’m not sure praying will be a suitable substitute.
“I’m also a bit concerned about being confined to one location.
“I’m a bit of a free spirit and I’m not sure how nuns feel about foreign holidays or cocktails by the ocean – I guess I’ll be the naughty nun who’s sipping wine under the altar.”
The former couple ‘married’ last November, but things soured within months and Brocarde had an exorcism to end their marriage.
Since then, Edwardo has been ‘stalking’ her – driving her to a life of abstinence.
She said: “Becoming a nun is really my final bid to free myself. If this doesn’t work then I do not know what I will do.”
Until she commits to a life in the convent, Brocarde is focusing on her work as a singer-songwriter, and has released a post-divorce tune ‘Just Another Anthem’.
Brocarde added: “I feel now it’s the time for me to focus on my singing and songwriting – Edwardo has provided me with a ton of inspiration, so that’s something to thank him for.”
