The woman is barely discernible as she clings to the log in the murky water in the dark.
The people on the bridge can be heard yelling “Hold on” as the fast-moving water takes her away.
The scenes were filmed on the Itajaí-Açu River in Rio do Sul, southwest of São Paulo, Brazil, early on Sunday (19 May).
The people who spotted the woman by chance were on the bridge monitoring the river level at the time.
They called the emergency services immediately, as reported on Need To Know.
Firefighters rescued the woman further downstream using an inflatable boat and took her to the riverbank.
She is reported to be doing well.
Local official, Cristian Stassun praised the firefighters who saved her as “heroic”.
The stretch of river where the scenes were filmed was about 100 m wide due to heavy rains.
