An ex-reality TV star has warned her 2.4m followers not to get permanent make-up, claiming it turned her lips to “sandpaper.”
Romina Malaspina decided, three years ago, to get micropigmentation on her lips.
Micropigmentation is a cosmetic technique, similar to the process of getting a tattoo, in which tiny needles are used to add coloured pigment.

Malaspina, 29, said: “Let me tell you something unbelievable, my lips feel like sandpaper, they scrape hard.
“About three years ago, I had this thing done, like a tattoo on my lips to make them look coloured.
“I asked the girl for a soft colour and she gave me this – it’s almost red.
“I walked out of there and wanted to shoot myself.”
The Argentinian, who is also a tech house DJ, said she hoped the results would get better with time but they never did.
Malaspina said: “I thought, ‘It’ll fade away on its own.’ It never did.
“Three years went by and it wouldn’t go away, so I started getting laser treatment on my lips and it’s very painful.
“But for the skin peel off, it’s like my lips first become tough like a cat’s tongue. I’m so fed up.”
Malaspina came to fame when she took part in the 2015 edition of Gran Hermano aka Big Brother, as reported on Need To Know.
Her last reality TV appearance was in the 2023 series of Bailando, which is similar to Strictly Come Dancing.
Malaspina, who is from Mar del Plata, said: “You probably thought I always paint my lips red. No, this is the colour I have tattooed and I don’t like it.
“Honestly, I don’t know why I did it because my natural lip colour was so pretty. Anyway, thanks to the lasers, we’ll soon be back to normal.”
Experts warn that the risks of permanent make-up include infection, granulomas, scarring, or skin that swells, cracks, peels or blisters – alongside disappointing results.
