A lucky man has miraculously survived a wooden stake piercing his skull in a freak work accident.
Vitor Soares do Nascimento was working on a roof installation when the rod fell and hit him.
CT scan images show how the stake was lodged 2.4 inches (6 cm) deep and fractured his skull above his right eye.

The 28-year-old builder was taken to a local hospital in Mangaratiba, west of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

But due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to a larger facility, in Duque de Caxias, by air ambulance at 3:53pm yesterday (10 Jul).
He remained awake and lucid throughout the ordeal.

Medics diagnosed a fronto-facial fracture with bone fragments and deep brain contusion.
He underwent emergency surgery, as reported on NeedToKnow.
As of Wednesday night, he remained in the ICU on mechanical ventilation.
