As the riots continue across the UK with rumours of more planned in London today (9 August) people are fearing for their safety.
Chad Teixeira, 28 – who has previously featured in the press due to his celeb connections as a talent manager – has cancelled plans to fly back home from Portugal out of “sheer fear”.
And he claims the decision has left him “tens of thousands” pounds out of pocket – and he won’t be returning to the UK for the “foreseeable future”.

“I’ve been in two minds, but I decided last week it was the safest decision to do,” the CEO and managing partner for a marketing agency, from London, told Need To Know.

“I’m very happy to stay away until this has all blown over.
“It’s majorly affected work, my finances and had a significant impact on my mental health.
“It’s meant that we can’t complete deadlines for agencies and have lost valuable time, as well as resources, that were pre-contracted.
“And the loss of all my travel costs that were pre-booked, too.”
Chad, who lives between the UK and Portugal, says the riots have left him “speechless”.

He added: “[On Wednesday], I feared the worst.
“A million thoughts went through my mind and I began panicking.
“The images shown on TV and online make it even worse.
“It’s so scary and I fear for the safety of everything I know.
“I feel a lot of this is caused by misinformation online and anti-immigration sentiment.
“It’s crazy to see the country you know going up in flames.

“The riots and attacks are barbaric.
“As I have the disposable income to do so, I’d be moving my family as far away from the riots as possible [if I still lived here].
“You can never be too safe when it comes to this sort of thing.
“I’m scared and fear for those living where it’s happening.”
