His classmates rushed into the corridor after hearing a loud bang.
Two teachers arrived moments later and gave him CPR.
Tommaso was also treated with an onsite defibrillator.
Within minutes, both an ambulance and his parents had arrived at the school in Fano, southeast of Bologna, Italy.
Tragically, he died en route to the hospital on Tuesday (24 Sept).
His mum, Laura Pierangeli, and his dad, Luca Bisciari, were by his side at the time.
Tommaso had a congenital heart condition and was on the waiting list for a transplant, as reported by Need To Know.
His dad told local media: “They had told us always to be ready because Tommaso’s new heart could arrive at any moment.
“Depending on the availability and compatibility of the donor.
“We discovered his heart problem three years ago when we noticed he would get very out of breath while cycling.
“A check-up revealed the cells in his heart were stiffer than normal and because of that, the heart wasn’t pumping blood properly.
“Tommaso loved technology and had plans for the future. He used to tell us that when he grew up, he wanted to become a pharmacist.”
Tommaso leaves behind two brothers, aged 20 and 10.
The family was still mourning the death of their grandmother, Paola Pierangeli.
She passed away about 11 days ago, after a long illness.
Tommaso will be laid to rest in Fano tomorrow (27 Sept).
