They lifted, allowing two cars to pass through, but the warning lights began to flash again, signalling the oncoming arrival of a train.
The lorry then got stuck on the crossing.
The trucker got out of the cab and ran to the side before he was seen flailing his arms in a bid to get the nearby train to stop.
In the footage, the train then comes crashing into the side of the truck, causing it to flip around onto its side.
Clouds of dust and rubble follow, further highlighting the impact of the shocking incident.
Seven passengers on board suffered injuries but none were life-threatening.
The event, which took place at midday on Tuesday (Nov 26), occurred in Nowa Sucha, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland.
Polish State Railways, known as PKP, shared the video alongside a short statement.
In the post, they revealed the consequences of the accident to be ‘enormous’, as reported by Need To Know.
“The cost of repairing the damaged infrastructure will exceed £2.3million.
“Hundreds of passengers did not reach their planned destinations on time or at all because train delays totalled over 3,500 minutes and a key rail line was blocked.”
“The driver did everything the opposite of what logic would suggest.
“When all he had to do was simply follow the rules and regulations and the tragedy would not have happened.”
The train company also revealed that the perpetrator of the accident will be charged for the costs of damage to infrastructure, rolling stock, and the rescue operation.
One hundred and 20 trains were delayed in total, which affected those travelling across the country.
