A 48-year-old actress has died after falling ill with pneumonia.
Barbie Hsu is best known for her role in the 2001 TV series Meteor Garden, an adaption of a Japanese comic.
The Taiwanese actress and singer, who began her career aged 17 in a pop duo with her sister, Dee, is a well-known name in the Mandarin-speaking world.

Sadly, the star took ill during a recent visit to see her sister in Japan last month, as reported by Need To Know.

Barbie was soon rushed to hospital where it was confirmed she had pneumonia.
Hsu also has a history of epilepsy and heart disease, and has been hospitalised due to seizures in the past.
She tragically died on Monday 27 January.

Her sister, Dee, said in a statement, shared by Barbie’s manager: “During the Lunar New Year, our family came to Japan for vacation.
“My dearest sister Barbie has unfortunately left us after getting pneumonia, triggered by influenza.”
Barbie Hsu leaves behind her husband, South Korean singer DJ Koo, and two children from a previous marriage with Chinese businessman, Wang Xiaofei.
