A lorry driver jumped from an overpass to save himself after his truck crashed and burst into flames.
Dramatic CCTV footage of the incident shows the near-fatal accident unfolding yesterday (12 Feb) morning.
Three HGVs were travelling along the overpass at the same time when two collided.
A huge fire ignited instantly, completely engulfing the smaller of the two lorries.
A column of thick, black smoke could be seen rising into the air.
As a passing biker stopped and looked on from below, the driver of the smaller lorry could be seen emerging from the cab.
He jumped onto the barrier at the side of the overpass and then threw himself into the void.
He landed near the bottom of a grassy slope before rolling onto the road beneath.
He then picked himself up, ran to a safe distance, and lay down on the grass.
The crash happened on the PR-092 motorway in Arapoti, west of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The drivers of both lorries survived.
One sustained minor injuries, while the other was rescued with moderate injuries.
Both HGVs were carrying flammable materials, as reported by Need To Know.
One was carrying asphalt mixture, while the other was transporting naphtha – a flammable liquid made from crude oil, used as fuel or to make chemicals.
The accident blocked the motorway in both directions for about five hours.
About an hour and a half after the collision, there was a 3km (1.9mi) traffic jam in one direction and a 2km (1.2mi) tailback in the other.
