A celebrity pig has tragically died after being run over in the street.
The animal, known by the name of Niuniu, was loved by residents in his local area.
Shocking CCTV footage captured the moment a driver turned a corner and hit the pig who was standing in the middle of the road.

Her death was announced in a Facebook group with more than 694,000 members.
The person who shared the news stated that they were not the owner of Niuniu, who was kept as a pet.

“Sorry to inform everyone that the star girl pig died (I am not the owner),” the person wrote.
“Unfortunately she got hit by a car.
“Watching the screams in pain and we can’t do anything about it – really sad.”
In the post, it was mentioned that many people watched Niuniu grow up and that she reminded people of a “dog”.

According to the local press, parents would often take their children to visit the animal.
Many people online have been made angry by the pigs’ death, with lots of people pointing their fingers at the owner.
The incident occurred at the Zhulian Market in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, as reported by Need To Know.
According to the local press, Hsinchu Dongbao Institute said that the owner should have taken care of Niuniu in line with regulations and that they could face a fine of between £313 to £1,566.
Since the news was shared online on 30 March, many people have commented on Niuniu’s tragic passing.

“It’s the real thing to let him run around,” said Weiren.
