Tourists were left clinging to a mountainside after a tornado ripped through a residential area.
Homes were destroyed by the twister and officials are still assessing the severity of the damage.
Witnesses were able to catch some of the chaos on camera as it unfolded.
Buildings were badly damaged due to strong winds and trees fell onto roads in some areas.
Residents also reported power outages, as reported by Need To Know.
A video from Monday (2 Jun) showed tourists on a mountain being battered by extreme winds.
They were left huddled together, clinging onto the rocks.
The tornado hit an area of Changshan Town, located within Songyuan City, Jilin Province, in northeastern China.
In the area, there are four famous mountains – North Mountain in the west, Long Tan Mountain in the east, Zhuque Mountain in the north, and Turtle Mountain in the south.
It is not clear which mountain could be seen in the video.
The government has reminded the public to be extra careful during stormy weather.
It has advised people not to shelter from the rain under trees, electric poles and towers, and not to carry agricultural tools on their shoulders.
