A man’s finger ballooned in size after two rings became stuck on it.
The unlucky jewellery wearer was taken to his local emergency department after it became trapped on his left ring finger, leading the finger to become hugely swollen.
Doctors who treated the patient, who is in his late 20s, said he was “uncertain” about how the ring had become stuck, and how his finger had become so swollen, reports Need To Know.

His sister, who doesn’t live with him, had been told of the issue and – after unsuccessfully trying to remove the ring – brought him into hospital.

The rings were initially barely visible, but following soaking in a saline and antiseptic solution, doctors found two gold rings cutting into the flesh.
One of them was able to be removed with a ring spreader, but the other required a ring cutting device to cut the thicker ring at two points and safely remove it.

The wound was cleaned and the patient – believed to be from Ghana – was told to keep his hand elevated to alleviate the swelling with time, but failed to return for the scheduled follow-up appointment.
