A married father-of-two named Diego Maradona died after drinking 13 glasses of a spirit allegedly for a bet.
Diego Maradona de Souza Silva was at his local bar with two friends when an acquaintance showed up.
Diego – whose wife is pregnant – reportedly asked the man to buy him a shot of cachaça, but he proposed a challenge instead.

He allegedly said he would buy a whole bottle for whoever could drink the most cachaça, and all three accepted the challenge.
One got through four glasses, another six, but Diego reportedly managed to polish off 13 glasses of cachaça, each about 200ml.
Afterwards, he got up from the table and walked outside, where he was spotted dancing.

Minutes later, he collapsed on the street on Sunday (29 Jun) morning
His pals allegedly thought he was sleeping, so they stayed inside the bar in Remanso, about 350 miles north-west of Salvador, Brazil.
A short while later, a passerby noticed Diego was pale and foaming at the mouth.
He called his family, who came to the scene and called the emergency services.
Diego – set to become a dad again in two months – was taken to a local urgent treatment centre, but arrived without vital signs, as reported by Need To Know.
Doctors attempted to administer glucose and resuscitate him, but in the end, they could only pronounce him dead from a cardiopulmonary arrest.
His two friends were also taken to the facility and were discharged.

Diego’s loved ones know the man who proposed the challenge and say he was aware of the 36-year-old’s drinking problem.
It is not clear if they have reported him to the police.
Diego’s cousin, Tais Martins, told local media: “We’re outraged because he took the life of a hardworking family man, dearly loved by all.
“He’s left his mother and family devastated with grief.”
Diego worked locally as a street cleaner.
He was laid to rest in Remanso on Monday (30 Jun).
He leaves behind a wife, who is seven months pregnant, and two autistic children, aged five and 11.
