A hero father is missing and feared dead after saving his two children from being swept away in a lake during a family outing.
Sergio Corsano was on a rented boat with his wife Nathalie, 44, and their children, 14 and 10.
While wearing life jackets, the children jumped into the water but struggled against sudden waves whipped up by the wind.

Without hesitation – and with no protective gear – Sergio, 55, jumped in and managed to push the children back to the 40-horsepower dinghy, where Nathalie helped lift them safely aboard.

Moments later, Sergio was pulled under the water, prompting a frantic emergency call on Monday (25 Aug) afternoon, as reported by Need To Know.
Local reports say the area where he disappeared can reach depths of up to 200 metres, with whirlpools often forming, making rescue efforts extremely difficult.
Emergency services quickly brought Nathalie and the children ashore, visibly shaken, and the search for Sergio began immediately.

As of Tuesday evening (26 Aug), he had still not been found.
A sophisticated underwater robot has been deployed to help divers explore the lakebed.
Sergio, of Italian origin, was born in Essen, Germany, and lived in Bühl.

The family had been holidaying in Domaso when the tragedy occurred.
The search continues.
