Bungling cops launched a hunt for a man suspected of having a sword near schools – but he actually had ‘drumsticks’ in his hand.
Chaos erupted in a quiet town he was thought to have a dangerous weapon.
Police swooped on the area to find the man dressed in a red and black check shirt, grey hood, light jeans, white trainers and headphones.

The bizarre manhunt unfolded on Trevor Road and Fore Street in Torpoint, Cornwall, as reported by Need To Know.
Devon and Cornwall Police were called at around 3pm yesterday (8 Dec) and launched a search while maintaining a police presence outside the schools.
Officers were finally stood down at 7pm after the man contacted police himself.
He was carry drumsticks, it is understood.
A police spokesperson said: “We were called at around 3pm on Monday 8 December following a report of a man with a bladed article in Fore Street, Torpoint.

“Officers attended the scene and carried out a search for the man.
“Units remained in the area with enquiries ongoing to locate the individual and determine whether any offences have been committed.
“We have received no further reports.”
Local Austin Irwin said: “Local lad carrying drumsticks.
“Few of the people started gossiping then the next thing you know there was police speeding all round Torpoint.
“Absolute joke.”
Nigel Harris added: “It was drumsticks.
“This caused absolute chaos.”
He claimed: “Seven or eight police cars, armed response, dogs, a helicopter.
“Most of the kids were told to return to school, lock the doors, crazy.”
Glenn Galloway said: “You can tell they are drumsticks.”
Devon and Cornwall Police have been approached for further comment.
