A doctor who graduated from Harvard University has revealed which popular protein source is actually the “worst” for your body.
Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist, often shares his advice and expertise with his 1.4m followers on Instagram (@doctor.sethi).
The 42-year-old previously revealed which four foods everybody should be eating to help aid digestion, with kiwis at the top of the list.
Now, the doctor, from California, US, has divulged which popular protein source is actually the “worst” for the body – causing more harm than good, reports Need To Know.
In the clip, which has racked up 2.3m views and over 34,000 likes, he rates different foods from one to 10.

First up are eggs, which he scores full points.
He said: “[These are] the best quality protein, as they’re perfectly absorbed.”
And he rates chicken the same.
Dr Sethi explains: “It’s lean, complete and super filling.
“Salmon is a nine out of 10 [as it’s] a complete protein, plus anti-inflammatory and high in omega-3.”
Greek yoghurt is also rated highly at nine out of 10 since it’s high in protein with gut-friendly probiotics.
Tofu is scored an eight, though it is a great option for a plant-based source of protein.
Not only that, it’s heart-healthy and high in isoflavones, which mimic the actions of estrogen.
Chickpeas and beans are just a seven out of 10, though.
He said: “Good protein, plus resistant starch for your gut.
“Whey protein is [also] a nine out of 10, provided it’s a naked protein.
“Fastest absorption and highest leucine.
“Peanuts have more protein than most nuts, plus great satiety – seven out of 10.”
The last – and worst – form of protein? A protein bar, which he scores just a five.
Dr Sethi added: “[While] convenient, many contain added sugar and seed oils.”
