An actor who voiced Miss Piggy and Olive Oyl has died on her 94th birthday.
Gloria Rocha’s career spanned five decades and indelibly marked the childhoods of millions of people.
The dubbing industry in Latin America is in mourning after the Mexican star, who was affectionately known as “The Godmother” in the industry, passed away on Wednesday (14 Jan).

She voiced numerous famous characters for the Spanish-speaking market.
Gloria was the voice of Miss Piggy during The Muppet Show and Olive Oyl in the animated series Popeye the Sailor.
She also portrayed the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull in the cartoon series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
She played Velma Dinkley in the Scooby-Doo franchise and Tweety the loveable canary from the Looney Tunes series.
Gloria was also the voice of Aunt Harriet Cooper in the classic 1960s Batman series.
Between 1994 and 2000, she directly responsible for assembling the voice cast for the Dragon Ball franchise, as reported by Need To Know.

She meticulously selected the actors who would bring the characters to life, decisions that proved key in making the series a phenomenon in Latin America.
The Godmother was at the forefront of other titles that defined anime in the Spanish-speaking world.
She passed away in the Mexican capital, Mexico City, on her 94th birthday.
So far, her family has not disclosed her exact cause of death, which is believed to of natural causes related to her age.
Numerous voice artists have paid tribute to Gloria for her influence on the industry, such as Lalo Garza and René García.
She was hailed as a mentor to generations of performers.
After beginning her dubbing career in the late 1950s, Gloria went on to work in film, TV, radio and theatre.
She retired in 2011 after working as dubbing director on the Spanish-language version of The Iron Lady starring Meryl Streep.
