A beach walker was stumped after finding what he fears is a half-buried parachute in the sand and feared someone was still attached.
James Lees found the blue and white material protruding from the popular beach.
Despite his best efforts he couldn’t release it and was left bemused as to how it got there.

He even feared there may have still been someone attached to it beneath the sand.
He found it on the beach at Bournemouth.
“I was walking along the shoreline at low tide,” he told, Need To Know.

“I noticed a large unidentified item partially buried in the sand and attempted to lift it.
“I was going to bin it.
“But it was firmly embedded and would not move.
“It appeared similar to a parachute but its origin was unclear.
“I couldn’t lift it out.
“I was just thinking if it was a parachute, where was the person that was attached to it.
“I just hope the person at the other end was still alive.
“It didn’t look a cheap object.
“I don’t know why anybody would just leave it there.”
Other theories were it could have been an abandoned inflatable boat, a spinnaker from a yacht or even a weather balloon.
But James added: “I genuinely have no idea what it is
“Whoever left it there should definitely move it though.”
