A cancer influencer has tragically died after documenting her battle with the illness online.

Jéssica Daugirdas – dubbed a warrior – passed away on Saturday (24 Jan).

She had been fighting cancer since 2023.

Jéssica, 35, used social media to share her treatment journey and offer advice on coping with the disease.

She had amassed more than 100,000 followers across platforms by the time of her death.

Her TikTok bio read: “Facing cancer with lightness!” And her Instagram said: “Living out purpose amid pain. Living with an ostomy.”

In a post announcing her passing, her family wrote: “In His infinite wisdom, God has called to Himself our warrior, who fought bravely until the end with strength, faith and courage.”

Earlier last week, her sister Gabi revealed that Jéssica – from Taperoá, in Brazil’s Bahia state – had been hospitalised in a high dependency unit due to a severe case of sepsis.

Gabi wrote: “She is still undergoing treatment, receiving excellent care from the medical team and being closely supported by the family. She is on many medications, which has left her very unwell…”

Jéssica had been battling colorectal cancer and undergoing both radiotherapy and chemotherapy, as reported by Need To Know.

She first revealed the diagnosis at 32 in a selfie video last March: “I discovered it through a colonoscopy. First, the symptoms started like this: lifelong constipation, a feeling of incomplete bowel movements…

“But one day I started noticing blood in my stool when I wiped. At first it was occasional, then more frequent… I thought it might be haemorrhoids or something else. I never imagined it could be cancer.”

The colonoscopy revealed a “quite a large polyp – two or three centimetres – in the rectum, low down, very close to the anus.”

Jéssica underwent radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgeries, which were initially successful. However, the cancer later returned.

Jéssica leaves behind a husband.

Her follower Eudenha wrote: “I’m devastated. It’s as if Jéssica were part of my family. May God comfort her family. My deepest condolences.”
