Several blocks later, at least two armed adults abandoned the Fiat Uno Van Fire and fled on foot.
Inside the vehicle, officers found the lifeless body of the 12-year-old, identified as Uriel Alejandro Giménez, along with spent shell casings.
Paramedics confirmed that he had died from gunshot wounds, including a shot to the chest, in Tres de Febrero, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The incident took place in the early hours of 20 January.

The case has been classified as “homicide aggravated by the use of a firearm” with one police officer formally charged.

He was laid to rest in Tres de Febrero on 21 January.
His sister, Kiara, paid tribute online: “Only you and I know what we went through together. I hope you’ve found your peace, my dear brother.
“I love you with all my heart.
