A tourist was rushed to hospital after a “mystery meat” sausage nearly killed her and left her bedridden on holiday.
Juri Hwang spent 24 hours in hospital after being struck down with violent vomiting and severe diarrhoea after eating a suspicious skewer.
The 25-year-old bought the sausage at a bustling night market abroad and initially described it as “delicious” but strangely “mushy”.

The midwife later shared her ordeal online, with the shocking clip racking up more than 2.9 million views and over 19,000 likes.
“I genuinely thought I was going to die – I couldn’t stop vomiting,” Juri, from Sydney, Australia, told Need To Know.
“I woke up in the middle of the night with severe abdominal pains.
“Which quickly escalated to vomiting and diarrhoea.
“I was running in and out of the toilet all night and also had a fever and chills.
“By day time I realized I needed medical attention urgently so I went to hospital.”
Juri had bought the sausage from a vendor at the Kalare Night Market in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Just six hours after eating the food she spent a horrific night running in and out of the toilet at her hotel before being rushed to hospital.
For the next 24 hours the holidaymaker was bedridden on a hospital ward where doctors diagnosed her with gastroenteritis.
The illness was believed to have been caused by foodborne bacteria.
By the end of her stay she had racked up medical bills of around £500.
Juri said: “At the time of eating, I noticed that the first bite was mushy and tasted a bit weird but because it was my first time trying Thai sausage I thought that was normal.
“When I got to the middle it was more firm and delicious but I didn’t think much about it at the time.
“I was severely dehydrated and was having fevers while admitted.
“I was treated with IV fluid, IV antibiotics, panadol, anti nausea medication and electrolytes.
“I was mostly recovered in 24 hrs but my stomach was still sensitive for about three days so I had to eat soft light foods.”
After posting the clip online, Juri discovered she was far from the only traveller to suffer after eating street food.
Viewers flooded the comments with their own horror stories.
One person said: “Yeah, as a local Thai, we used to get sick from the Thai sausage too, but we learnt the hard way. Here’s the biggest tip, only eat if they’re grilling in front of you, eat them hot.”

Another person said: “The amount of food poisoning is out of control and it is nasty.”
One other person said: “Just don’t eat street food.”
One person added: “She will never eat sausage again.”
Another person said: “I got so sick there last year also probably from the ice in some drink.”

Despite the ordeal, Juri insists she still loves trying street food while travelling.
Juri added: “I did not make a formal complaint to the vendor.
“I have only heard of other similar cases from people commenting on my reel.
“I want to stress that while this was an unfortunate experience, I still enjoy exploring local street food, but it’s a reminder to always be cautious and listen to your body.”
