A footballer has died suddenly aged 22.
Pablo Jurado Serafín’s passing has sent shockwaves through Mexico’s top-flight division Liga MX.
The young goalkeeper joined the youth ranks of Deportivo Toluca, currently positioned second in the league, in 2019.

He was part of the Under-17, Under-20, and Under-23 squads, establishing himself as a key player in the team’s youth set-up.
During his development, he also had a brief stint at Club Valle de Bravo before returning to Toluca.
Although he never made his debut with the first team, the young goalkeeper spent several years with the club.
His journey with Toluca concluded in summer 2024 when he finished his youth career but was let go by the coaching hierarchy.
Pablo was looking for a new club at the time of his death, as reported by Need To Know.

As of now, the cause of his untimely passing has not been publicly disclosed.
The news came just days after he celebrated his 22nd birthday.
A club spokesperson said: “Those of us at Deportivo Toluca Football Club deeply regret the passing of Pablo Jurado Serafín, a former goalkeeper of our institution.
“We send our condolences and best wishes to his friends and family.”
Mikel Arriola, president of the Mexican Football Federation, also paid tribute to the young goalie.
He said on X: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Pablo Jurado Serafín.
“My condolences and solidarity go out to his family during this time of profound sorrow.
“I hope they find peace and strength in the face of this irreparable loss.”
