An influencer has raised eyebrows after raffling off the chance for five of her fans to be her boyfriend for a week – while they pay for the “privilege”.
Escarleth Palacios posted a video for her 1.6 million TikTok followers last week explaining how the arrangement would work.
“I’m going to do a ‘tanda’ so you can be my boyfriend for a week,” the redhead from Monterrey, Mexico, said from her parked car.

“Basically, you have to contribute 2,500 pesos (£107) a week, over five weeks.
“Obviously, there are five people, and I’m going to write you down in this notebook,” she said, brandishing the jotter. “What do you think?”
A tanda is an informal savings scheme common across Latin America, where a group of people each contribute a set amount on a regular basis.
Each round, one member takes the whole pot, and the rotation continues until everyone has had a turn.
In this case, however, the “benefit” is not the money but the chance to be the 25-year-old influencer’s partner.
Her followers quickly took to the comments to probe further, as reported by Need To Know.
One commenter asked: “What perks do I get as your boyfriend?”

Another enquired: “You’re joking, right?”
A third viewer joked: “Pity the last one!”
A fourth person quipped: “A ‘premium affection’ package, billed monthly to a credit or debit card.”
While someone else added: “I’ll give you the 2,500 pesos and you can put it towards an Excel course.”
