A toddler has been left fighting for his life after allegedly inhaling cake decoration powder while his mum baked a birthday treat.
The young boy, named Dusty, is now in an induced coma and unable to breathe on his own following the terrifying incident.
The accident unfolded as his mum prepared a Bluey-themed cake for a friend’s child.

But the celebration quickly turned into a nightmare.
The powder involved is said to turn into a paste when mixed with moisture, potentially blocking airways, as reported by Need To Know.
According to a GoFundMe set up by family friend Rochelle Evrard, the toddler got hold of “gold dust powder” during the baking process.

He then became unresponsive, prompting a desperate emergency call.
Rochelle wrote: “When the dust is mixed with water it turns to paste – so it immediately blocked Dusty’s lungs.”
Dusty has since undergone surgery to clear his lungs and remains in a critical condition in hospital.
He is also due to have another procedure to adjust his breathing tube and allow doctors to check his lungs again.
The youngster is still unable to breathe independently.

His parents – both self-employed – are now unable to work as they remain by his bedside.
The family has relocated from the Gold Coast to Brisbane for urgent treatment, with accommodation costs continuing to mount.
So far, $11,994 (£6,332) has been raised to support them during the ordeal.
