A cancer influencer who “married herself” to fulfil her dream of becoming a bride has tragically died, aged 29.

Wang Bingbing passed away in the early hours of Saturday (9 May).

As early as 2022, she experienced irregular menstruation, abnormal flow and light bleeding between periods.

She assumed it was caused by stress from constant work travel and self-medicated with traditional Chinese medicine.

In 2023, aged 27, her life was upended when she was diagnosed with intermediate-to-advanced cervical cancer.

After her diagnosis, Bingbing began documenting her cancer journey online.

She underwent a total hysterectomy in November 2023, followed by chemotherapy.

Despite treatment, she suffered a relapse in June 2025, as reported by Need To Know.

The cancer had metastasised, and she underwent further treatment, during which her appearance changed significantly.

Later that year, when she knew she was nearing the end, she held a “wedding for one”, fulfilling her dream of becoming a bride.

Smiling for the camera, she said: “Marrying myself still counts as getting married.”

The day before her death, she posted a heartbreaking final update: “I’m leaving. I may not see you again. I can’t bear to part.”

By the time of her passing, she had amassed more than half a million followers.

Cervical cancer is almost always caused by high-risk HPV, which spreads through sexual contact and genital skin-to-skin contact.

During her illness, Bingbing repeatedly asked: “I’ve never had a boyfriend, I’ve never had sex even once – why did I get cervical cancer?”

She worked as a corporate trainer, travelling frequently and staying in hotels, where she often used shared bathrooms and towels.

Doctors told her she likely contracted HPV through public exposure, although the exact source could not be traced.

Following her death, her older sister wrote online: “My sister was kind, pure-hearted, warm and sunny in nature.

“She treated others sincerely and always cared deeply for her close family. She maintained a love for life throughout.”

She added: “She faced life’s everyday moments with optimism, leaving us with countless warm and beautiful memories.

“Her sudden passing has plunged the entire family into immense grief, and all relatives and friends are heartbroken and deeply saddened.”
