A US fitness influencer has reportedly drowned after trashing his luxury rental home before jumping into a lake.
Police were called to a luxury housing estate in Bang Phli, Thailand, at around 3pm yesterday (7 July) following reports of a man behaving erratically before entering the water.
Divers recovered the body of American national Connor Michael Murphy around 20m from the shore after a 30-minute search, according to local reports.
No signs of assault were found on the 32-year-old’s body, which has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
His death is preliminarily believed to have been caused by drowning.
Shortly beforehand, Connor had reportedly returned to the estate by taxi while behaving unusually, according to a security guard.
The guard said he began shouting, rolling around on the road and raising his hands as though he were praying.
He then reportedly ran into the estate, jumped into the 10-m-deep lake, swam until he became exhausted and disappeared beneath the surface.
Witnesses did not enter the water because of its depth, as reported by Need To Know.
Connor and his girlfriend had reportedly been together for around three years.
Although they had previously lived apart, they had moved into the 22m THB (£493,000) rental home together about three months earlier.
The 22-year-old reportedly said it was the first time Connor had behaved like this and that she had no idea what had triggered the episode.
She said it began the previous night when he allegedly splattered paint throughout their rented home while she was asleep.
Investigators reportedly found two unused syringes on the driver’s seat of Connor’s car and several unidentified white tablets inside his waist bag.
His girlfriend said she had never seen him take drugs.
The homeowner was reportedly left shocked after finding paint smeared throughout the property, including over furniture and electrical appliances.
Connor had amassed nearly three million followers and subscribers across his social media platforms, where he shared comedy, bodybuilding, fitness and philosophy content.
The US Embassy in Thailand has reportedly been notified.
