A teenager who died after suffering a medical emergency at a music festival has been remembered as a “bright, funny and kind” young woman who “lit up every room she walked into”.

Lucy Halpin, 18, fell ill during the early hours of Tonnau Festival at Carreglwyd Estate on Anglesey, North Wales.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 1.45am on July 11, but despite the efforts of medics, Lucy later died in hospital.

North Wales Police said her death is being treated as unexpected and enquiries remain ongoing, as reported by Need To Know.

Now, heartbroken friends have launched a fundraiser to help Lucy’s family give her “the best send-off she deserves”.

In the appeal, they wrote: “Anyone who knew Lucy would know she was kind, caring and a good friend.

“Everyone around her knew how bright and funny she was.

“She lit up every room she walked into and put a smile on everyone’s face without fail.

“But on the early hours of Saturday, following a medical incident at Tonnau Festival, she was tragically taken away from us too soon.

“With her whole future ahead of her, she will be carried in all our lives with love and will be deeply missed.”

The fundraiser says all donations will go directly to Lucy’s family to help cover funeral costs and events to honour her memory.

At the time of writing, it had raised more than £3,470 towards a £4,000 target.

Lucy was also remembered by colleagues at The Breeze Hill Bar, Eatery & Hotel, where she worked.

In a moving tribute, the business said: “It has been a very sad week at The Breeze Hill. A broken pub full of broken hearts.

“Our wonderful Lucy was taken away from us last Friday, just a few weeks following her 18th birthday.

“Lucy wasn’t just staff, Lucy was a member of our extended family and was treasured by us, our customers and her colleagues, many of whom became her close friends.

“Lucy was caring, funny, clever and always smiling.

“Lucy was exceptionally good at looking after our customers, many of whom will miss her lots.”

The pub said friends had launched the fundraiser to help Lucy’s family during “this exceptionally difficult time” and pledged to organise a memorial event in the near future.

Lucy has also been remembered in emotional social media tributes from friends and family.

Her sister Jessica wrote: “My beautiful baby sister.

“Where do I start, what do I say… there is just no words in the world.

“You only just turned 18 last month, you had your whole life ahead of you and I know you would have done amazing things.

“My heart is broken and it will never be fixed.

“I love you so much. It was a pleasure to call you ours.

“Things will never be the same.”

Following Lucy’s death, organisers cancelled the remainder of Tonnau Festival.

In a statement, they said: “Everyone at Tonnau Festival is deeply saddened to confirm that a festival attendee tragically passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning following a severe medical emergency.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the attendee’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”

North Wales Police said officers were called to the festival following reports of a medical emergency.

Detective Inspector Iolo Edwards said: “Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

“We urge members of the public not to speculate on the circumstances of the death, and anybody with information that could assist our enquiries should contact us.”
