Around four suspects are believed to have carried out the attack before fleeing in a grey Citroën C4 Cactus.
The murder in Mãe do Rio, Brazil, sparked a major police operation involving roadblocks, raids, stop-and-searches and intensive patrols across the region, as investigators focused on the suspected involvement of a criminal organisation.
During the operation, five suspects allegedly opened fire on officers attempting to arrest them. Police returned fire, killing all five.
The crackdown has also resulted in the arrests of six adults and the detention of a teenage girl, as reported by Need To Know.
Among those arrested is influencer Evellyn Dantas, who is suspected of providing logistical support to those involved in the murder.
She has more than 22,000 followers on Instagram, where she frequently shares glamorous photos of herself, flaunting her hair, make-up and revealing outfits.
Investigators say the case against her gathered pace after detectives analysed conversations recovered from mobile phones seized during the operation.

The messages reportedly helped police identify people linked to the killing and reconstruct the group’s movements before and after the ambush.
The investigation has also led to the seizure of firearms, ammunition and drugs, while detectives have identified additional suspected members of the criminal organisation.
Police are continuing to investigate the motive for the killing, identify everyone involved, establish each suspect’s role and track down any remaining members of the gang believed to have taken part in the execution.
