A woman who shifted over 7st as she was ‘afraid’ her man would be ‘stolen’ from her has revealed how she’s refusing to quit Mounjaro – despite being unable to afford it – for one reason.

Ariane Sherine Juniper watched on upset and scared as another woman began hitting on her boyfriend.

She couldn’t blame her, though, as he had become ‘insanely hot’ after losing 7st 8lbs.

Shifting a few pounds was something the 46-year-old had longed to do – but struggled to do so – until now.

The photographer knew the number on the scales had to go down to ensure she wouldn’t lose her boyfriend; or be punching above her weight.

“I was acutely aware I needed to slim down,” she told Need To Know.

“When this really skinny woman hit on my man at a book launch, though, it was game on.

“I felt like she could take him off me in an instant if I didn’t do anything about the way I looked.

“But losing weight through sheer will power was something I just couldn’t do.”

Ariane, from London, had been stuck in a vicious cycle since her 30s.

She’d lose weight, then pile it back on almost immediately.

When going out in public, she would often apologise for her appearance as the mum-of-one believed people were judging her looks.

Eventually, she avoided mirrors, photos and her reflection in shop windows.

It wasn’t just the fear of losing her boyfriend that made her determined to change, though.

She said: “I had zero energy.

“I was morbidly obese and couldn’t walk without getting short of breath.

“I had chest pains and was so huge that I couldn’t wipe my bum.

“Before I met my boyfriend, I was embarrassed to go on dates, despite being desperate to find love.

“One of the men I dated said I was fat and lazy and that I wasn’t attractive because of my size.

“I ended up quitting my job as an editor of an interiors website as I was so ashamed of being the fat girl attending press events where all the women looked so great and glamorous.”

Ariane claims she also suffered her fair share of hurtful comments while weighing 16st 3lbs at her heaviest.

A man in the street allegedly yelled ‘big belly’ at her and another person offered her his seat on the Tube believing she was pregnant.

She trialled powered sachets of diet shakes and even went vegan; to no avail.

And, at the end of the week, the mum felt so depressed that she would spunk money on costly takeaways.

So, she swapped skipping breakfast for a hearty bowl of porridge with raisins and seeds.

At lunch, it’s no longer only a few vegetables, but a cheese toastie to accompany the plate.

For dinner, the fast food trips have ended, and, instead, it’s cauliflower cheese with salad.

In just over a year, she had dropped an impressive 7st 5lbs.

Though it’s not all credit to her diet and lifestyle changes.

At £245-per-month skinny jab Mounjaro was working in the background.

And, although she’s reached her goal weight, she’s not giving the injections up any time soon – even though the monthly price isn’t within her budget.

In fact, Ariane believes they have undeniable health benefits that are helping her post-weight loss.

She said: “Watching the pounds fall off was very motivating.

“But alongside maintaining my current weight, I’m better off staying on them as a bonus health tool.

“The benefits exist over and above the effects of weight loss.

“My nan died of Alzheimer’s and I don’t want to go like she did.

“As well as neuroprotective benefits, Mounjaro lowers your risk of heart disease and strokes.

“It also reduces blood pressure, blood sugar levels and inflammation.

“You can’t put a price on health – even though I’m blowing through my savings.

“I don’t care, though.

“I want to be on Mounjaro forever.”

Ariane, who has suffered from mild nausea, fatigue and blacking out as a result of the jabs, says it’s a “small price to pay”.

While she has considered trying the new weight loss pills, it’s only something she would actually do if Mounjaro was no longer available.

For now, though, she’s embracing her new figure – and lifestyle.

She added: “Food addiction is real and part of the reason so many people are so obese.

“If people took medication for alcoholism or drugs then no one would mind – so why is it suddenly cheating when it’s used for weight loss?

“I think people really enjoy hating fat people and resent the fact they can’t do this when we’ve lost weight.

“I married my gorgeous boyfriend and no longer feel as though another woman is going to steal him from me.

“And, at events, I also get admiring looks now.”
