An award-winning classical singer has been left seriously injured after being hit by a high-speed driver while cycling to a performance.
English National Opera star Nathan Vale was riding into central London to sing at Temple Church on Sunday, October 18, when the collision happened.
He suffered multiple severe injuries, including two broken legs, a broken arm, broken ribs and a broken collarbone.

Tenor Vale was airlifted to hospital and placed in a medically induced coma to manage his pain and allow surgeons to operate.
He remains in intensive care around the clock as doctors repair his fractures, although the outlook for his head injuries is said to be positive, as reported by Need To Know

Now a fundraiser has been launched to help Vale, his wife Non and their young daughter to cope with the financial impact of his lengthy recovery.
The appeal said: “We have set up this page following a serious accident involving Nathan.
“Nathan was cycling into central London to sing at the Temple Church service when he was struck by a high-speed driver.
“He sustained multiple severe injuries, including two broken legs, a broken arm, broken ribs, and a broken collarbone.
“He was airlifted to the hospital, where he was placed in a medically induced coma to manage his pain and allow doctors to perform necessary surgeries.

“While Nathan remains under 24-hour intensive care as surgeons repair his fractures, we are deeply grateful that the prognosis regarding his head injuries is positive.
“However, the road to recovery will be long and challenging. During this time, Nathan, his wife Non, and their young daughter face a significant and immediate loss of income.”
The appeal added that the full cost of his rehabilitation remained unknown, with donations intended to provide immediate financial relief and help cover future care and unexpected expenses.
An update posted on Thursday, October 22, thanked supporters for their generosity.
It said: “We are completely overwhelmed by the extraordinary love and generosity shown towards Nathan, Non, and their family.
“The funds raised so far will go a immensely long way towards relieving immediate anxieties over lost income, while also providing a crucial buffer for Nathan’s future recovery and rehabilitation costs.
“We are in constant touch with Non, and she has asked us to share her immense gratitude for this incredible outpouring of support and care.”
The organisers said the fundraiser would remain open while the family faced an uncertain recovery timeline.
Vale studied at the Royal College of Music and the Benjamin Britten International Opera School, working with tenor Ryland Davies before receiving an Independent Opera Vocal Scholarship to the National Opera Studio.
He is a former winner of the London Handel Singing Competition, where he also received the Audience Prize.
His career has taken him to major venues and festivals internationally, with performances alongside orchestras including the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and RAI Symphony Orchestra.
His operatic roles have included performances at the Bolshoi Opera, English National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival and English Touring Opera.
