A British expat has been found dead with shotgun wounds at his home in Turkey after family members raised the alarm when they were unable to contact him.

Stuart Lee Duncanson was found with fatal injuries after relatives were unable to contact him.

The 61-year-old, from Barrhead near Glasgow, is said to have been battling serious health issues in the lead-up to his death and was found deceased at his detached house in Aydin, Turkey, on 18 October.

It’s currently unknown whether it was a family member or the emergency services who first stumbled on the tragic scene.

The British national is said to have been residing with his mother and father at a property in the popular seaside resort town of Didim, on the country’s west coast.

On entering the home, investigators reportedly discovered his body with fatal shotgun wounds, as reported by Need To Know.

Police believe Stuart may have taken his own life after confirming there were no suspicious circumstances at the scene.

His body has been sent for post-mortem as investigators work to confirm the exact cause of death.

A friend, who asked to remain anonymous, told Turkish media: “He was a wonderful person.

“We will miss him terribly.

“I just can’t believe it.”

Another loved one took to Facebook to share details of Stuart’s funeral, which is due to take place today (26 Oct).

Lynn Cole asked mourners to avoid wearing dark clothes as a way of celebrating Stuart’s life.

She wrote: “It is with deep sympathy we announce the sad death of Stuart Lee Duncanson.

“Stuart’s funeral will take place this Monday, 26th October. The family requests we meet at Scarlet Bar in Yesiltepi at 12.45 to leave at 1.15 for the service at Yalikoy at 2.00 pm.

“It is also requested that, as a celebration of his life, we refrain from wearing dark clothing. Thank you. Also, if anyone needs transport on the day, please private message me.”
