A British shopper was left shocked after finding a ‘cancer’ warning on a pair of boxing gloves in a UK store.
Shannon Murphy was stunned when she investigated a large label on a box containing what would’ve been one of her first pair of gloves.
The 20-year-old had stepped into Sports Direct to purchase them for training when she noticed a concerning warning stuck to the cardboard.

The e-commerce business owner has now slammed the product claiming they should not be on the shelves.
“When I saw it I was shocked and outraged and knew I needed to make a video about it.” Shannon, from Manchester, told Need To Know.

“I’m angry that these gloves are being allowed to be sold along with so many other carcinogens.
“These should not be on sale and should not be approved to be sold.
“I always check labels on the things I buy because you just never know.”
The label on the 12oz, £74.99 Everlast gloves reads: ‘WARNING: Cancer and reproductive harm.”
Shannon could not believe what she was reading and started warning others online about the item.

Sharing her outrage, she posted the clip on TikTok – where it racked up more than 124,000 views.
She said: “I would like to add to anyone who buys products even if they don’t immediately think they could be harmful to check labels of everything they buy and heighten their awareness of these things.”
While many Brits were most-concerned about the mention of ‘cancer’ on the item – the warning is actually due to a law for products sold across the pond.
The Prop 65 warning is a strict labelling law for items sold in California, USA.
Many manufacturers use one label for products shipped across multiple countries, explaining why the label made its way to a UK shelf.
Sport Direct has confirmed to Jam Press that the Prop 65 warning does not indicate that a product is unsafe.
It is a requirement to comply with stringent Californian laws which are widely used on many standard items available to consumers in that particular US state.
