Loved ones had been sharing updates about the mother-of-two’s battle with her loyal following on social media.
Locals had even started a prayer campaign in the hopes of helping Ana to recover.
On 14 October, some thought their prayers had been answered after she reportedly opened her eyes and doctors started reducing her medication.

However, her condition rapidly deteriorated, and two weeks later she was tragically pronounced dead.
In one of their updates, the family said Ana needed to undergo dialysis.
However, doctors at the hospital in Campo Grande deemed her condition so severe that they instead gave her medication to ease her pain and keep her comfortable.
The teacher, who worked at a state school in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, leaves behind two sons, Bernardo and Hector.

Ana was also a biology graduate and is said to have been working towards a doctorate in the subject before she died.
Details of her wake and funeral have not yet been shared.
