A missing American man has been found dead with his hands and feet bound with tape inside a padlocked room after neighbours reported a foul smell.
Tamir Nadav, 46, had been missing for more than two weeks when police made the grim discovery at his home in Maringá, Brazil.
Officers entered the property on Friday (18 September) to find food still sitting on the table, the television switched on and belongings scattered across the floor.

Upstairs, Tamir’s home office had been “completely ransacked” while his computer was still switched on.
Police then discovered a room secured with a padlock and a yellow liquid on the floor outside.
After breaking down the door, officers found Tamir’s body inside with his hands and feet bound with adhesive tape.
His identity was confirmed through dental records yesterday (22 September), as reported by Need To Know.
Tamir, originally from New York, moved to Brazil for work in 2021.
He worked in online game development and had previously worked for companies in San Francisco, Montreal, Rio de Janeiro and Maringá.
Police are now trying to establish when he died and determine his cause of death.
Police chief Adriano Garcia said a man and woman who had been living with Tamir are suspected of involvement in his death.
Their names have not been released and police have requested the man’s pre-trial detention.
Investigators allege the couple made several purchases in Maringá using Tamir’s money on 1 September.
These allegedly included two watches worth a combined BRL 10,000 (£1,473).
Two days later, a friend visited Tamir’s home and was met by the couple, whom she did not know.
They allegedly told her Tamir had travelled to São Paulo.
Suspicious, she alerted authorities and filed a missing-person report.
She returned to the property with another friend on Friday but nobody answered the door.
Neighbours reportedly told the women the lights had been on for several days despite nobody appearing to be inside.
They also noticed a strong smell coming from the property.
Police believe the couple fled the house on 3 September after Tamir’s friend visited.
The untouched food was among the clues investigators said suggested those inside had left suddenly.
Garcia said: “Presumably because they were caught off guard, they left the house and never returned.”
Tamir’s friend Luiza di Pietro told local media: “He was the most Brazilian gringo, you know? He absolutely loved our country.
“He was someone who had really learned Portuguese – he spoke it very well and understood it perfectly.
“Wherever he went, he embraced Brazilian culture.”
Police believe the motive for Tamir’s death was financial.
The investigation continues.
