Story from Jam Press (Baby Curry Name) Pictured: The social media post by the takeaway. 'Poor kid': Couple 'name newborn baby after wife's favourite takeaway curry' – but all is not as it seems A restaurant recently received a JustEat order saying a newborn baby had been named after one of its curries – leaving social media users in shock. The Captain's Table, in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, got the £28.35 order earlier this week (29 August) where workers noticed an unusual note at the top. The print-out receipt had a note from a customer notifying them his wife decided to call their newborn daughter Pakora – after her favourite curry from the eatery. The message read: "Contact free delivery. My wife has just called our new born daughter Pakora after her fav dish from the Captain's Table...thought you'd like to know :)." The post was uploaded by the restaurant beside a photo of a newborn baby captioned: "Baby Pakora 24/08/22 7lb 2oz" which has racked up over 1,200 likes and 1,800 shares. However, all is not as it seems. The whole thing was actually just an elaborate prank – by the owner's own wife. "We're a fish and chip shop, which has been running in the family four generations now," Hilary Braniff, 47, told NeedToKnow.online. "The industry is in a very doom-and-gloom situation. The price of fish has gone through the roof, potatoes are about to as well. "Then you have VAT which has returned to 20% and we all know about the utility bills. "Every day I check our fish and chip shop industry Facebook page and it's always bad news. "I thought for one day I'm going to post something light-hearted. I asked my daughter if I could use an old picture of my granddaughter, Grace, for something. "She said no problem, but I didn't tell her what the post was about. "So I put my two favourite things together – Pakora and my granddaughter. "I placed an order and added a wee note about the naming of the baby and then my post went crazy. "It wasn

A restaurant recently received a JustEat order saying a newborn baby had been named after one of its curries – leaving social media users in shock.

The Captain’s Table, in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, got the £28.35 order earlier this week (29 August) where workers noticed an unusual note at the top.

The message read: “Contact free delivery. My wife has just called our new born daughter Pakora after her fav dish from the Captain’s Table…thought you’d like to know :).”

The post was uploaded by the restaurant beside a photo of a newborn baby captioned: “Baby Pakora 24/08/22 7lb 2oz” which has racked up over 1,200 likes and 1,800 shares.

However, all is not as it seems.

The whole thing was actually just an elaborate prank – by the owner’s own wife.

“We’re a fish and chip shop, which has been running in the family four generations now,” Hilary Braniff, 47, told NeedToKnow.online.

“The industry is in a very doom-and-gloom situation. The price of fish has gone through the roof, potatoes are about to as well.

“Then you have VAT which has returned to 20% and we all know about the utility bills.

“Every day I check our fish and chip shop industry Facebook page and it’s always bad news.

“I thought for one day I’m going to post something light-hearted.

I asked my daughter if I could use an old picture of my granddaughter, Grace, for something.

“She said no problem, but I didn’t tell her what the post was about.

“So I put my two favourite things together – Pakora and my granddaughter.

“I placed an order and added a wee note about the naming of the baby and then my post went crazy.

“It wasn’t long before my daughter was on the phone. She thought it was brilliant.

“I chose Pakora because it could maybe be a name.

“I knew I wouldn’t get away with calling her pasties bap.”

The order and prank picture of the six-month-old was uploaded to the restaurant’s Facebook page – and many social media users fell hook, line and sinker for the stunt.

One person said: “How tacky is that God help that baby.”

Another person added: “Poor kid.”

“Jesus what drugs was she on during labour what a shame imagine calling a baby Pakora,” added a third social media user.

Someone else added: “That name might be ok on a cat or dog but it’s dreadful on a human.”

Others decided to poke fun at the name.

One Facebook user said: “Does that make her granny her naan?”

Someone else added: “Aww! I knew I could hear the pitta patta of tiny feet.”

“Aw same, I named my daughter Taco Bella,” joked a third person.
