Former Simply Red star, Tim Kellett is set to judge fruit and veg at an allotment competition.
The 59-year-old will also examine plot holders’ baking at the annual show.
The sites will display Simply Red-themed arrangements in honour of guest judge, Kellett.
The former pop star played trumpet on hit songs during their 80s and 90s heyday.
Simply Red’s songs included Holding Back the Years and If You Don’t Know Me By Now.
Green-fingered locals will be judged between 10 am and midday before prizes are given out on Sunday (20 Aug).
Trophies will be handed out to those with the most points in certain categories or “who have presented particularly good exhibits.”
Fans have lapped up the celebrity judge at the show in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Matt Roqwe said: “They couldn’t afford Mick Hucknall – money’s too tight to mention.”
Liam Reeve said: “He’ll be ‘Holding back the shears’.”Andy Lindley joked: “Simply Red Cabbage.”
Brian Shepherd added: “Marrows Too Tight To Mention.”
The show has been held annually for the past 62 years in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
It will be held by Harrogate and District Allotment Federation.
Kellett left the band in 1993.
He went on to form the band Olive – known for its number-one 1997 single, You’re Not Alone.
