A bizarre house with a makeshift cave built around it has gone on the market for $599,000.
From the outside, it’s an unassuming family home, with a manicured lawn and driveway.
But head inside, and it’s anything but normal.
A waterfall entry opens into the living, dining and kitchen areas, with a huge rock formation fitted – giving the impression of being inside a cave.
The quirky three-bedroom, two-bathroom pad is in the city of Indio, California, US.
The former owner installed the rock formation, as well as a ‘cave-like wet bar’, with the property set across a 13,503 sq ft lot.
The property is set out in an open-plan format, with cabinets built into the fake rocks, and parts of the ‘cave’ lining windows and doorways.
On the walls, paintings of distant mountains and birds give an outdoorsy feel – just like you are tucked away in a real cavern.
The bedrooms and bathrooms, however, are devoid of any faux rock, with carpet and more typical furnishings used.
The back garden appears to have been an afterthought, with the disused space mostly covered in rubble and debris.

The property is currently on the market with Brendhan Springe of Sotheby’s International Realty for $599,000.
It was last sold in 2005 for $230,000.
